Autumn - a great time to sow your wildflowers! 🌺🌸🌼

Celebrate autumn!

Now is a great time to sow wildflowers for an early spring display! 🌺🌸🌼

Here are a few tips to help you keep on top of what can be a very busy time in the gardening calendar -
β€’ Rake up leaves regularly to maintain a healthy lawn. They can be composted or spread on the flower beds - either way they'll rot down, providing much needed nourishment for the soil πŸ‚πŸ‚
β€’ Unless we get a lot of rain, continue to water any plants in containers and pots, maximising their flowering time 🌸🌼
β€’ If you have Lavender, now is the time to cut back. Once the flowers have started to fade take off two to three centimetres to tidy up the shrub - however, if this is its first year, let the plant establish and cut back in year two.
β€’ Trim any herbs to encourage a fresh flush of growth - this prevents them going to seed, which can reduce flavour! 🌱
β€’ With the nights drawing in, maybe add some solar lights to your garden or patio - they really can bring a glow to your outside space πŸŒ™βοΈ
β€’ Lastly, don't forget that September is an excellent month for sowing wildflowers - pleasantly warm ground and the prospect of rain means it's a win/win for the wildflowers! 🌺🌸🌼
