Autumn is a great time to sow wildflowers - for an early spring display 🌺🌼🌸

How can I get rid of weeds naturally?

Weeds can be a real problem in the garden and, unless you hand weed or hoe regularly you’re likely to be overwhelmed in no time!😖🌱

Of course you can buy weed killers but they usually contain glyphosate which is potentially harmful to   honeybees by affecting the microbes in the bees’ digestive system, making them more prone to deadly infections.😔🐝

So, why not try making your own weed killer from store cupboard ingredients? Vinegar, salt and lemon are just some things you can use. They may not be as effective as commercial weed killers - but they are safe and non toxic!😀 With this in mind you may need to use more than one application over the course of a few weeks and always spray on a dry day for maximum impact.

🌱 Boiling water is good on paths and paved areas it’s quick, cheap and convenient 👍🏻

🌱 Lemon juice which contains citric acid causes weeds to shrivel, it’s good for paths, driveways and paved areas. Juice around five lemons or use ready squeezed juice from a bottle.🍋

🌱 Salt can be harmful to plants as it dehydrates them, only use on paved areas as salt can damage other plants and can also affect the pH of the soil.🧂
Use one part table salt to two or three parts water (do not use rock salt, epsom salts or sea salt).

🌱 Baking soda and vinegar, best for use on young or annual weeds, in paved areas.
Make with one part baking soda, two parts white vinegar and optional lemon juice.

Mulching is also a good natural way to control weeds.

So, next time you need to weed - try a natural solution, better for creatures and the environment!👍🏻😊
