What flowers are commonly seen at Easter time? 🪻🌹🌷
When spring arrives after the cold, wet, often grey days of winter it’s a real boost to see the colourful flowers of spring! A lovely breath of fresh air - literally!🌹🌷🪻
We thought we’d highlight a few of the most popular spring flowers - 🌼🌸🌺
Easter Lily - named after this holiday, Easter lilies are associated with purity and resurrection. This comes from the Christian writings which say that after Jesus’ death and resurrection they were found growing in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed the night before the crucifixion. (Please note that these flowers are highly toxic and should be kept away from children and pets).
Daffodils - one of the first flowers to herald the sign that spring has arrived! The daffodil is the national flower of Wales and the symbol used by many cancer charities. Belonging to the Amaryllis family. Various common names include daffodil, narcissus and jonquil.
Hyacinth - blooming in shades of pink, white, blue, pale yellow and lavender and known for their gorgeous scent. Associated with spring and rebirth, these annual flowers symbolize sincerity and constancy. 🪻
Tulips - representing love, belief and forgiveness, coming in an array of colours and styles. Tulips are sometimes associated with Easter because of their somewhat egg-shaped blooms. 🌷
