What free activities can I do with the kids?🤔
With spring just around the corner there are lots of things you can do outside with the kids that cost very little and are enjoyed by all! We’ve listed a few ideas below - there’s something for everyone!😊
An outdoor scavenger hunt!
Add some interest to your walk - make a list of 5 or 10 items you can spot (emerging buds, catkins, pussy willow, snowdrops and crocuses- the list is endless!) then go hunting! Our kids pack includes a scavenger hunt sheet and stickers and other nature themed topics to inspire a love of nature! 🌱
Discover your local parks and woodlands
There are so many lovely places to explore in the UK. It’s always nice to find somewhere new to visit. Find places near you
Make a den!
Being outdoors is known to reduce anxiety and have a calming effect, there’s so much to be learned from the great outdoors and, who doesn’t like building a den or maybe a ‘den’ for the bugs, click here for instructions

Learn about trees 🌳🌲
Trees are such an important part of our lives! They not only provide us with lovely fruits, nuts and materials for building and, of course, making paper! They are also excellent hiding places for all kinds of wildlife including birds, squirrels and some insects!🐦⬛🪺🐜
They also help to keep our air clean, as we breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide, trees are the opposite so we really do work in harmony! Take a walk in the woods and teach your kids about different trees - click here for more info
Go fly a kite!
Spring is an ideal time to go kite flying, pick a large open space - the higher the better. There’s so much fun to be had flying a kite! You could even try making your own - click here for instructions 🪁
Get them gardening! 🌱🪴🌺
Let them have their own dedicated area in the garden, maybe go to the garden centre, explore the different types of plants, chose some and then plant them together, or sow some wildflower seeds! If you don’t have outside space how about creating an indoor herb garden - strengthening their connection to food.
Then, there’s the old favourite - puddle jumping!☔️
